 "Steer clear" 2009-07-24
By E. J. Quin (London, England)
The phone is fine but the support is lacking. Bought cable to transfer files to PC but despite repeated assurances from LG and being referred to their website by them and other companies, there is no software to support this. LG did not reply to my emails and I can only assume they neither know the answer nor care. Last LG product I will be buying. I can, of course, transfer via Bluetooth but this is restricting. Until LG start getting their act together and supporting their products and customers, my advice is to steer clear of them.

 "FANTASTIC!!" 2009-06-21
By L. A. Fellows (UK)
I got this phone for my birthday and am absolutely amazed at all the things it can do! The camera is amazing with lots of different settings, the music player is just as good as my IPOD TOUCH!!!!! And the touch screen and the colour(purple) makes it a whole lot better! You may think that the touch screen is hard to use, but trust me, ive had mine for about 2 months and this thing is soooo quik. The themes on it are also really good- i have the aquarium one where you can see lots of sharks and fish swiming around! The radio is also amazing, excellent quality anywhere, internet is also really fast and the email works instantly once you type in your acount settings.

Everyone i show my phone too are sooo jealous, mainly because of the colour XD!!! my friend has already ask her mum if she can get one just like it(but cheaper).

TRUST ME! IF YOU GET THIS PHONE YOU WILL NEVER REGRET IT!

 "Good value mid-price phone - very Blackberry-lite" 2009-11-04
By Peter H (England)
The politics of the old mobile are long and complicated. Magazines are not dedicated to them for nothing! Talk-talk apart, I personally like to listen to the odd bit of music, catch up on the radio news and maybe send a few SMS messages. I like a bit of GPS and I like a bit of e-book. That is why I have bought them separately (you wouldn't want to strap a phone to the front of a bike!)

In the box is a charger, manual, mini USB lead, mini headphones and the actual phone. Slim and well balanced in the hand. Looks classy - but feels (grey) plastic to the touch. Software layout was clear and easy to get around. Instruction (such as "back") on the screen over the button you need to use. You can navigate different ways and have several things open at the same. You are looking at around two or three hours to become a complete master from scratch.

(Presuming you are not new to mobiles or technology totally.)

The manual is OK - but the print is pretty small. However you could use most of the phone without it, learning by trial and error. Several tricks and wrinkles (including one below) are only available this way.

Charges (from flat) quite quickly (via in-box charger or USB lead) and you slip in your SMS (if not using the supplied) and off you go. Problem number one is that it went in to keyboard lock mode on first power save - so I took out the battery and started again. Found the menu (buried deep in the manual) and switched it off!

(That is just me though - might prevent silent calls or people using it without permission.)

Second problem - the very small slots (get a magnifying glass - they are marked) and rubber pull away doors. Don't be clumsy with them, not if you want to use the phone for years. Power saves quickly (dim and then black), so you might want to extend the time-out, especially if you want to play games or decide on what tune to play.

Moving around the menus this seemed quite slick and modern (over my two year old model) with the software icons being square and obvious (you have option of a list format). Despite the larger screen (about two and a half inches across) bump up the fonts to large for bad light, arms length use or glare. Large screens and big letters - don't mistake a one for a seven any more!

The phone has no 3g or WIFI. Not a problem for me. Not a fan of the internet in miniature anyway - the odd sports score and the must-know headlines when out and about. You can - naturally - get the internet on a pay-by-minute basis or do an all-you-can-eat deal with some suppliers.

The FM radio has user-programmed stations and uses the lead as an aerial (won't work without it), will also play through the internal speakers. Works better on a bed/desk draw than in mid air. Press OK to go on to speaker mode - even with phones plugged in.

Music can be downloaded from your computer or put on the mini-sd card and then placed in the phone or ported across via the suplied USB lead to the card in situ. As can any of the media that can be displayed or used (too long a list for here - Google a full spec). Those that cannot be used can still be stored (files from a computer such as PDF) to be passed on to another device that can. Windows WMA can play as well as MP3. Love the sound and goes louder than comfort levels (via left side up/down button). Naturally there are battery life implications.

What really takes you on to the next level is the mini-qwerty - really a step forward for the first-timer. Fantastic to use and a step out of the (SMS/E-mail) dark ages. You almost say "at last" as you use it! A natural clean click with every touch.

Games I am not interested in (but they are available - at a price. Tetris is a playable demo only), but I like the seperate notes function (and I use it).

Make recording of your voice - as if a vocal memo pad or singing My Way (will record to mini-sd if you buy one). Note they record to a file on another ("My Stuff") section (no file naming as a computer would do - the phone makes a name. Can be changed when hooked to a computer - as can any file.) Bet that fools a few people first time.

2MP Camera has no flash and the video is blocky on a proper computer screen. It is OK for the odd snap and coming across a herd of charging wildebeest on Oxford street. Not a dedicated camera replacement at all.

Some reviews have been lukewarm - maybe because it doesn't make toast - but it does everything I want to do and did most of it straight out of the box. "Intuitive" is the word the pro reviewers prefer. Wave it around while you use it and you might fool people that you have a real Blackberry - and to be frank it is just as useful in my case.

Yes it is a four stars and not five. No killer new idea and no metal case. Some stick on screen protectors and/or a free mini-sd might have tempted me an extra star. Even a full Tetris (or a dentist waiting room time passer) might have pushed me over the edge...

Class under "budget model" rather than a "giant step forward."

i got this phone a few days ago from phones 4 u, the reason i chose this phone over other touch phones was because-unlike most it has a qwerty keyboard as well i would highly recommend this phone. Have had no problems so far. Only thing i would say is that it is very obscure if the facebook app cost money. Also if you use email on your phone its quite hard to set up your email account with the phone and took a while in the end i gave up but im not to bothered as i do not use email so much. i have had experience with the samsung tocco lite and the lg viewty and i personally find the touch screen more responsive than them. great camera and screen is clear.

 "A Bit Disapointing" 2009-11-06
By Melissa J. Clark (Derbyshire)
This phone looks great and way more expensive than it is but i am i little disapointed with it.

The good points:

*Looks nice and neat

*Camera is acually really good to say is only 2mp

*Good size screen

*Price

*Qwerty keypad

The downsides:

*qwerty keypad - great for texting on bus, at home etc...but when your out shopping its hard to text as you need to hold the phone with both hands

*qwerty keypad... agian (looks neat, not very practical) - there is a shift style button that allows some of the letters to be Up Down Left and Right buttons but sometimes halfway through a text it wil do it by its self so you end up writing halfway through the line above.

*Slow - when you press menu button or open the phone it takes a good few seconds to react for some reason, not so bad if my mum borrows it but im used to a faster phone, also when texting you sometimes have to stop and let the letters catch up.

*Really poor battery life, once on last bar you cant text or play music or anything, it just switches off pretty quickly

*Advertised as fully touch screen! it isnt, you have to press a button to open touch screen and all you can do is dial a number, i hardly ever use it. not that bad really but it sould not be advertised as fully touch screen.

I was really exited about this phone but having had it a good while now im pretty annoyed, im getting a new one on contract (an iphone yay!) but shall be keeping my LG KS60 for nights out as it looks really cute and i cant bring myself to throw it or give it away.

Althought the product is great, the delivery was great too. We got a faulty one and had to send back and pay for postage, £6.40!!!! Haven't got my £68.99 back yet but had to pay that out again for another one to be sent!!!!!!! Doesn't seem right!!! It cam on her birthday but cos faulty obviously u can imagine the disappointment when it didn't work. It got very hot charging the battery only lasted an hour.

NOW we have a new one. She loves it, the battery doesn't hae as long a life as some, but oh well, the phone is fab!! Its too fancy for me ut ids are kids!! and pick anything up fast.

Love it but had bad experience with first one!!!!!!!

 "Good phone" 2009-07-19
By Wise old head
I simply want a phone I can make phone calls on and send text messages easily. I have never got used to texting with conventional mobile keypads and this seemed to be the ideal solution at a good price. So far it is exactly the solution I was looking for. The keypad is excellent and has increased my texting speed by an order of magnitude.

I can't comment on web applications - I have no interest in using them from a phone and so will not comment on if they're good or bad.

The camera is adequate, but not special, but then if you want a good camera, then buy a camera, not a phone! There are some tidy applications like a unit converter, world clock etc. These are handy but hardly deal breakers. Still a range of apps are there if you want them. The build quality is fine - a metal body would be nicer than plastic, but so far it seems robust.

In short I can't fault this for doing the job I wanted it for - phone and text communication. Very good value for money, neat looking, a nice bright screen and decent battery life. A much better piece of kit than the motorola L6 and razr that I've previously owned.

Brilliant phone that is everything I could ask for. Slight slowness with keys if in a hurry but nothing major. Large message capacity and good battery life. Would recommend it to anyone. Bluetooth is easy to access and phone is easy to set up. Camera is very good although lack of flash is a slight downfall. Overall 4.5 out of 5. Excellent value for money!

"Not worth the money. An air-head phone - looks good, but lacks brains!" 2009-12-03
By Mrs. Fk Clyde
This phone was NOT worth my investment. It has given me problems since the beginning (I bought it five months ago)and is THE most frustrating phone I have ever owned. It constantly crashes and switches itself off for no reason. I may be texting, talking or just sliding the keybad back in and the phone will suddenly turn off - very annoying!

Also, during texting, if you are a fast texter like me - it is extremely frustrating when you are texting away and the cursor is suddenly half way back up the message! What is that about?! It does this frequently when I text - so I cannot just get on with typing, I have to constantly look at the screen to make sure the cursor hasn't jumped up couple of lines (for no reason, I reiterate) and started typing halfway through a previous sentence.

Seriously do not waste your money. This phone is fairly expensive and entirely not worth it.

It look great, but lacks performance and always crashes. If it hasn't yet, trust me, it's only a matter of time. My husband also bought the blue/black version of this phone and when his didn't play up, I thought maybe I just had a dud one of the bunch - however, slowly but surely over the weeks my husband's has done the same as mine.

Today, for no reason, my phone has decided to switch itself and so far WON'T come back on, no matter what I try. I am currently charging it even though it already had a full battery. Seems like I'll be bying new phone.

Rubbish.

This phone (lg ks360)is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool - i'm so glad i bought it!!!!!! It's the best phone i've had! If you want it then you should definately and i mean definately should buy it. If i had to choose i would give it a trillion and one ticks. If i had to choose my 3 favourite things about the phone the first thing i would choose is the qwerty keypad (of course) the second thing is the touchscreen for when your dialling and last but not least i would choose is the colour................. pink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are many more things i would like to mention but it would take to long to write them down.

 "Brilliant phone" 2009-08-06
By Dismal Angel (Scotland)
The LG KS360 boasts the most favourable phone feature of the year - the qwerty keyboard. A must for all hardcore texters, the KS360 lets you slide out the keyboard and type away to your heart's content while the display will change from portrait to landscape mode to adapt to the angle you're viewing at.

Very good quality sound on it although the speaker COULD do with being just a little louder as if it's lying down on a table, it will mute the sound somewhat.

One thing I really have to say is that for a phone this takes incredibly good photographs and videos. The photographs it takes come out in incredible vivid colour despite there being no internal flash included, and the video quality is reasonable.

Phone comes with a USB wire that you can connect to your computer/laptop and not only will charge it up while you have it connected, but also be able to access all your videos and photos from it without needing to install software. It's an ideal phone for uploading videos straight to facebook from, it's relatively quick and painless.

Bad points? Well the keyboard IS very fiddly at times and if you're a girl who happens to favour long nails or acrylic extensions, then you'll find this a very tricky keyboard to get used to as the buttons are rounded and your nails slide awkwardly across/off them. The speaker piece being on the back means it's easily muted at times. Phone has a radio tuner on it however you can ONLY use it with the special headphone. Also the memory in it is quite small so be prepared to buy a memory card for it.

Also will warn, be careful of the games you download for this one - if you go the wrong way about it you'll end up with a game that doesn't adjust to the landscape mode and won't fit to the screen correctly leaving some games/levels practically unplayable.

Good phone, it's a camera, video camera and mp3/radio all in one, and it has your general other features. Call quality is also pretty good and the network has a few good deals on pricing plus Orange wednesdays (be warned their customer service is questionable at times though).

"Amazingly versatile for the price" 2009-11-21
By Bluebell (UK)
I wanted a very small, light-weight but easy to use phone to carry in a pocket or rucksack when I go hill-walking and this little phone does the job perfectly. The clam-shell design means that I don't inadvertently make a call when the phone knocks about as I walk. The keys are big enough for cold fingers to be able to operate. The display is clear and you can opt for a larger typeface to to improve clarity.

The camera is not bad at all for capturing the odd photo. At first I couldn't transfer my photos to my Mac computers operating OS10 as the down-loadable software from the manufacturer is only PC compatible. I did manage in the end by using the Bluetooth connection. Setting up the Bluetooth handshake was easy. The FM radio is competent. I don't use it much as an MP3 player but it seems to work OK. I think you'd need to expand the memory if you want to store more than a few photos or lots of MP3 downloads.

Astonishing value for money.

 "brilliant pretty phone" 2009-10-08

Just bought this about a week ago. The phone is sleek and beautiful. Very easy to use and personalise. It has more than enough features that I need for my daily use (texting and talking). The FM works okay if you attach the aerial - the hands-free earpiece. I love the clam-shell design, with the top window big enough to show details of a call and messaging. It is slim and light and fits into my top pocket easily. It has an aggressive power-saving feature which you can customise.

Combining a touchscreen user interface with the latest technology, the Viewty ticks nearly all the boxes: 5 megapixel camera, 3G video calling, high quality video camera, MP3 player, FM radio, HSDPA for broadband internet speeds and bags of memory, this is one of LG's best phones.

Apart from the user interface, the Viewty has several pleasures waiting to be discovered. The camera is rated at 5 megapixels with a high quality Schneider-Kreuznach lens, autofocus and a SmartLight feature that makes after-dark photographs considerably clearer. You can also vary the ISO setting to ISO 800 for improved brightness in low light. In common with many digital cameras, the Viewty's camera incorporates an Image Stabiliser function for minimising camera shake. The Viewty can't match the very best camera phones from Nokia or Sony Ericsson, but it definitely ranks as a good camera phone. As well as a top notch still camera, the Viewty's video camera is also something special. It films at high resolution (320 x 240 pixels QVGA) and at very high frame rates - up to 120 frames per second, which enables special effects such as slow motion filming. There are built-in picture-editing and video-editing tools to make the most of these cameras. In addition, a second front-facing camera enables 3G video calls.

The Viewty's music player is nice and easy to use and can handle virtually every music format: MP3/AAC/AAC+/AAC++/WMA. There's also an FM radio built in. Stereo headphones are supplied in the box, and you can use optional mono or stereo Bluetooth headphones if you prefer. The Viewty's memory is generous, with 90 Mbytes of internal memory and up to 2 Gbytes of additional memory (microSD memory card).

 "LG Viewty" 2009-10-25

A great touch screen phone for the money. Instruction manual a little small and seems a bit complex for the none techno minded. Still; even I managed to work things out without going to the manual too often. If you do need a manual; get a strong pair of reading glasses. Still the phone is great; and even if you don't use it much; you can watch the little fish swim up and down on the screen saver. I can't get used to the hand writing programme in messages. Unless your really accurate any number of letters might appear on the screen. As for delivery. It came within days of the order; and almost a week before the predicted delivery date. Excellent service. Just one other thing. The battery life is not quite so good as predicted. Without any use what so ever; the most I have got out of mine is 6 days; not the the 400+ Hours I have seen on a shopping channel. Finally; for a company that came up with a name like "Life's Good"; I would have expected something a little more exciting than "Viewty". But still a great phone LG.

 "Amazing!!" 2009-09-12

What a phone!

Well...

basics...

Phone has a clear screen, brilliant camera, and blink detection, which personally, i think is REALLY cool ;)

It is easy to text on (one of my major concerns of a touch screen phone)

It has a loud speaker, and clear video capture..

FAULTS

Well... not alot really, i suppose it slightly annoys me that it isnt touch sensitive, it just responds to being pressed... what i mean is, as for some products (ipod touch) it requires skin-screen contact, this phone just requires being pressed, which can be by anything...

however if you use a stylus then it would be beneficial to have this set up.

 "Nice for the Price" 2009-08-31
By parisandhelen (UK)
Just a note before I give my opinions on the LG Viewty Lite, my review does not cover all the functions of this phone, as I haven't tried them all out yet. In fact, there will probably be some I'll never bother with.

I was tempted to buy this phone as my first touch screen phone. For the price I think it is a very reasonable phone. The screen is a good size for viewing photos, video clips and the internet. Photos and the internet can be zoomed in and out to suit the user preference. This can be done either by scrolling the screen via touch or by moving the wheel at the back of the phone around the camera lens. I found using the wheel and scrolling manually to be more precise than the touch screen (although I haven't bought a stylus for the phone yet, which may make a difference). The touch screen also vibrates slightly when it recognises a touch to the screen. I quite like this, although I know some people find it annoying.

Entering text in different areas can be done via the traditional handset lay out (T9 and traditional multi tap functions are available), a QWERTY keyboard (the space bar is located to one side rather than centrally, which is a bit of a pain if you're used to the traditional lay out) or using handwriting recognition.

The camera is 5mp, and takes a reasonable enough shot for a mobile phone. For anything more advanced than that, it's no replacement for a proper camera. Although to be fair, most people wouldn't purchase a phone to do their photos on if they wanted professional shots. Surprisingly I found that the video quality seemed superior to the photo quality when zooming in. The phone has the capability for some editing on videos, such as adding text. There are also a few different photograph functions, like black and white photos, negatives, panorama, macro, timer shots etc.

The phone can also play films in DivX format. Although I have not tried this out yet. But with the nice sized screen it would be handy for using whilst travelling to watch videos, without having to scrunch your eyes up to view the screen.

One downside to the phone is the ability to read office documents but not edit them. Again, the phone is not advertised as fit for this purpose, but I found this disappointing as it was a function I had on my previous phone. It seemed a bit of a waste to be able to view documents but not alter them. There may be software online that enables document editing but I have not found any so far. There is some consolation in the fact that the phone can do voice recordings enabling dictation even though you can't write to a document. Depending on the quality of the recording selected, the duration is roughly between 15 to 30 minutes, which should be adequate for most people's needs. Voice recordings are saved in .amr format. So far I haven't transferred any to the PC so I don't know if it requires additional software to replay on the computer, but I would imagine there would be some available online if needed.

Another downside is the fact that the SD slot is located inside the phone and requires the user to remove the battery in order to access it. Many phones now have external slots for memory cards, so this does seem a bit of a strange choice.

The phone is boxed with headphones, charger and USB cable. Although the USB cable is supplied, a software CD is not. Although some phones can "plug and play" in order to transfer data, the LG Viewty can't. It recognises new hardware added but requires software in order to use it. I assume that the software is available to download online. I prefer not to bother with this if a phone can use a SD card so I haven't bothered looking for the software.

The phone is not supplied with a stylus, although these can be purchased separately and attached to the top left hand corner so you don't lose them. They are available cheaply enough online, so it's probably not too much of a disappointment. However, that said, given that they are available so cheaply, it seems strange to me that one is not supplied with the phone.

Overall I think that this is a very decent phone for the price tag and I've enjoyed using it so far. It is not a replacement for the PDA (not that it claims to be) in the way that some of the handsets out there are, but of course you don't expect to get everything for this price. What it has gained in entertainment capabilities (camera, video, DivX compatibility etc), it has compromised in other functions (document editing, organiser functions etc).
